SEATTLE TRIP

02/10/05 - 02/13/05

My former roommate, Aaron, moved off to Seattle about the same time I moved back to Sac. Finally got around to visiting him there a few months later. Got to see a lot of the city, and catch a Kings/Sonics game, and our pal Russ even showed up after a couple of days to join us.

Hey, it's me in Seattle!
And here's Aaron hanging out in front of the Sound.
Hey, is that Captain Compass I see out there? Inside joke...
Me in front of the Seattle Aquarium. Something smells fishy...
Just a shot of the Sound. Really nice looking weather for being February.
A shot from Pike Street. Neat buildings in Seattle.
Pike Street again, but a little further back.
Hey, a famous Seattle landmark! That's the famous sign and clock outside Pike Place Market.
Ask Alexander. He knows all, you know...
Saaaaaasquatch...Aaron knows your legend's reeeeeaaalll...
And the sun sets over the Sound. Ahhhh.
Because I like pictures of buildings, okay? Come on, that's a neat one back there.
More scenes from downtown Seattle.
Hey, look, y'all! It's the Space Needle! Awesome!
And we're at Seattle Center. Says so right on the sign.
Better shot of the Needle. Ain't it cool?
Continuing my ongoing quest to get my photo in front of every NBA arena, here I am at Key Arena!
YES! Kings versus Sonics, baby! Aaron hooked us up on the tix, and we geared up and headed into enemy territory.
How 'about them KINGS?! Here they are during shootaround. Hey, look, it's Peja and Chris, still on the team. Sniff.
The Kings and the Sonics get warmed up for battle.
Uh, oh...looks like Chris Webber went and knocked somebody on his ass.
Which starts a FIGHT! Yes! Chris Webber just makes friends wherEVER he goes!
The refs get it calmed down while Chris asks what it was he did wrong. That's not something you see a lot of, the Kings arguing with the refs. Snicker.
And the fighting kind of continues anyway.
The parking garage at the Art Institute of Seattle.
And the Art Institute of Seattle itself. In case you're baffled, these photos are for research for something I was writing.
Which is also the reason for the photos of this building.
Here's me and Aaron, checking out that building.
Colorful downtown Seattle.
Looking down toward the Bell Street Pier.
Ooh, THAT's pretty. Nice skyline.
Hey, I can see Anthony's Pier 66 from up here.
Just kind of a neat shot. What, you never played full-contact chess before?
The Bell Harbor Marina, and some pleasure boats.
More skyline viewage.
It's the sight of the Sound.
The sun reflecting off the Sound. Sparkly, isn't it?
Another view of downtown.
Them's American AND Canadian flags, eh?
More downtown, sneaking the Needle in.
More scenery.
More with the boats.
And I'm at Anthony's Fish Bar. Trout, anyone?
Seattle Times my ass. It's in the P-I, suckas!
Looking down Bell Street, getting the Conference Center in.
Shot of the Maritime Museum.
Shot of the Bell Street streetcar station.
It's the Bell Street Deli.
And here's a boat I want to live on.
And after a couple of days of me being there, our pal Russ flew in from San Diego to join us. Here we are having pints at a local pub.
And then more pints. Aaron is thrilled to be there.
And we took a little trip to the famous Seattle Science Fiction Museum. Hey, look...it's the day Aaron and Russ stood still.
Get your stinking paws off us, you damn dirty apes! And it was just after this that they told us no photos were allowed in the museum, so no more sci fi fun for you. Sorry.
But we did decide to take a little trip up to the top of...tah dah...the Space Needle!
View of downtown Seattle from the up in the Needle.
And another.
And another.
Me in the Needle.
And we took ourselves a tour of the Red Hook Brewery. Here we are, smoking and sampling while waiting for the tour to begin. Aaron's thrilled to be here, too.
Still waiting. But not complaining.
Russ and Aaron enjoying some of the free samples that come with the tour. I suspect that's why they wanted to take the tour...
And there's the tap that the free samples come from, and other members of our tour group.
Aaron, me and Russ on tour.
Again.
More of our tour group.
And here's where Red Hook is made. Hey, I found this mouse in my beer, eh?
As we hit Pike Place Market, Russ and Aaron did a little shopping at the Old Seattle Paperworks. I stayed outside, mesmerized by the Shoes of Mystery.
Post Alley, another famous Seattle landmark.
And one last landmark...the Public Market sign.
