I own the most annoying lamp EVER
You know, a touch lamp on the nightstand seemed like a good idea. Easier to flick on and off, a choice of dim, medium or bright illumination. A solid buy, I thought.
However, lately, for no particular reason, my lamp has started randomly changing itself. Not just on and off. I'll be sitting here, like I am right now, trying to focus and write, and all of a sudden it starts cycling. Dim, medium, bright, off. Dim, medium, bright, off. Sometimes it does it a slowly at a seemingly random interval. Or sometimes, like now, it just starts cycling really fast through all of them. It must look from outside like I'm trying to run my own rave in here. And I really love it when it decides to turn itself on and do that when I'm trying to sleep. THAT's awesome. Sure, I could just reach up and turn it off and solve the problem. But then, 1) it's always OFF, and 2) WHAT'S THE POINT OF DOING THAT WHEN I BOUGHT A TOUCH LAMP IN THE FIRST PLACE?!!
And now it finally stopped. The room is now "Dim". Guess if I want it brighter I can always wait for a while. It'll get itself back there eventually.

Mike, sounds like ghosts. Or perhaps you have an annoying little gnat that keeps landing on the lamp to switch it. Or maybe just some kind of short. In any case, I can imagine it would throw off your concentration trying to write.
Ghosts? WAIT a minute... That would explain a few other things, like the blood oozing from the walls and the levitating cutlery. I can't believe I didn't put two and two together. Thanks!
Actually, I think the lamp is flirting with you. Could it really be a coincidence that it's constantly flickering to dim mood lighting? I think not...
i'll fecking lamp you one, fella!
